What is a ductless mini-split, exactly?
An outdoor compressor connected to one or more indoor wall or ceiling units, with no ductwork required. Each indoor head heats and cools its own room or zone.
Is a mini-split a good fit for a rowhome or an attic conversion?
Often the best fit — no duct chase needed, and each zone can be set independently, which matters in a converted attic or addition that never had ducts run to it.
Can a mini-split replace central air entirely?
It can, or it can supplement an existing system for the one room central air never cooled or heated well. Which one makes sense depends on the house.
